The wonderful students at Coney Island Prep raised over $200 for the Program for Survivors of Torture (PSOT).
MESA, or the Middle Eastern Students Association, was formed by a student at Coney Island Prep who wanted to create a safe space where Muslim and Middle Eastern students and staff could share their experiences and support one another, many of whom where feeling marginalized in their community.
The group explained, "Since the inception of MESA, all members agreed that we wanted to reach out to help people in need, in both our local and global communities."
The students of MESA took it upon themselves to support PSOT through a bake sale at their school.
When the students asked former French teacher, and PSOT alum, Meghan Nickerson what organization they should dedicate their fundraiser to, Ms. Nickerson suggested PSOT.
We greatly appreciate both the generosity of MESA and the dedication of our alumni network.
Our staff and our clients are grateful for the generous contribution.
