Today you can be a ray of light for torture survivors living in New York City. Clients of the Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of Torture have endured unimaginable suffering and escaped persecution in their home countries to find safety here in the US. Now our government is making them feel unwanted and unwelcome. It is heartbreaking to see the effect of recent events and harsh political rhetoric on the wellbeing of our clients, many of whom are Muslim. They are struggling with high levels of stress and anxiety due to their fears of deportation and separation from their families. They are scared for their safety and livelihood in the US and are looking for reassurance and guidance.
Help us sustain the high quality medical, mental health, social and legal services they need to get through these uncertain times. Half of the Program’s funding comes from the Office of Refugee Resettlement; we are at risk if the grants allotted for our program are frozen, as was experienced by the EPA. Your generous support will ensure the continued care of our clients. Please make a contribution today.
