Consulting Psychiatrist

Dr. Banu is a board certified psychiatrist who completed her M.D. equivalent at the University of Delhi in India, her residency in psychiatry at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, a second fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry also at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital. She subsequently completed a psychosomatic fellowship in psychiatry with our Program. She has extensive experience working with Tibetan torture survivors in Nepal as well as the U.S. Dr. Banu provides psychiatric services including psychopharmacological evaluation and treatment, and psychotherapy. She is fluent in English, Tibetan, Nepali, Hindi, Bengali and Urdu and reads Arabic fluently.
