Nathan Bertelsen, M.D.

Associate Medical Director

Dr. Nathan Bertelsen is the Associate Medical Director at the program. As a primary care internist and academic hospitalist, he is a clinician educator at Bellevue Hospital Center and NYU School of Medicine, supervising students and residents care for patients.

He studied government/international relations at Georgetown University, graduated from University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, and completed residency in internal medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center / New York Presbyterian Hospital. After completing work abroad in India, China, Dominican Republic, Spain, Denmark, and Tanzania, he currently organizes overseas medical electives in Peru and Turkey for NYU School of Medicine, where he is also helping develop a new Selective in Global Health as co-course director. He believes primary health care is a right for all, and necessary for any successful effort in sustainable development.
