Claudia Calhoon, MPH
Director of Operations
Claudia Calhoon, MPH is the Director of Operations of the Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of Torture. She is responsible for budget oversight, personnel issues, fundraising, and strategic planning for the Program. Claudia has worked for more than ten years in public health, advocacy, and human rights. From 2006 to 2008, she served in Cuenca, Ecuador as a Peace Corps Volunteer doing HIV prevention and organizational development with youth and families as well as with the gay and lesbian community. Before Peace Corps, Claudia spent five years with the Soros Advocacy Fellowship for Physicians, first at the Open Society Institute and then at Columbia University’s Institute on Medicine as a Profession. Claudia received her Masters in Public Health from Columbia University in the Program on the History of Public Health and Medicine. As an undergraduate, Claudia studied American History at Earlham College.
